There is something magic about ‘fill light’ in Sigma Pro Photo. In other applications I know the slider starts at 0 and you can only go up and indeed, fill light. However, in SPP it start at 0 and you can go down and up… This is what you get if you go negative… 
Sigma DP1, ISO100, 1/80sec, F4, no flash, 28mm

To my knowledge there is no RAW converter that can do the same trick as SPP with the X3F Fill Light option. In Adobe Lightroom 2.0 it will be possible to set a negative value for the Clarity slider to achieve a softer look, but that will not result in the intriguing darkening SPP does.
The photograph is stunningly beautiful.
